Engine Timing Repairs

Mechanical Repairs

We do not just scan and code, we get hands-on. Timing systems, drivetrains, suspension, engine work, the proper spanner jobs. OBDTech handles mechanical repairs on European, Japanese and American vehicles from our Penrose workshop in Auckland, using quality parts and the methods that actually last, not the ones that get the car back out the door fastest.

Engine Timing & Belt Services

Timing belts and chains are not a "when I get around to it" job. On an interference engine, a snapped belt lets the valves and pistons meet, and that turns a few-hundred-dollar service into a bent-valve rebuild. We replace, properly:

  • Timing belts & tensioners
  • Timing chains & guides
  • Water pumps (usually part of the timing service)
  • Thermostats & housing units

Everything goes back together to spec: correct torque, timing marks checked twice, and quality replacement parts rather than the cheapest box on the shelf.

Auxiliary Belt Services

Squealing on a cold start, or a belt that has glazed and started slipping? We replace and tension the lot:

  • Alternator belts
  • Fan/AC belts
  • Belt pulleys and tensioners

Suspension, Steering & Mounts

Suspension and steering cop a daily hammering on our roads. We repair or replace:

  • Shocks, struts, control arms, and bushings
  • Ball joints, sway bar links, tie rods
  • Power steering racks, hydraulic and electric (EPS)
  • Electric steering modules & sensors
  • Engine and transmission mounts

Drivetrain & CV Joints

A clicking on full lock usually means a worn CV joint. A clunk or a vibration that only shows up under load points further into the drivetrain. We inspect and repair:

  • CV joints & boots
  • Driveshafts & universal joints
  • Wheel bearings & hubs

Engine Rebuilds & Replacements

Worn, seized, or cracked, we can rebuild it or replace it. We offer:

  • Partial rebuilds (gaskets, timing, top-end repairs)
  • Used or reconditioned engine swaps

And we will tell you straight when a reconditioned engine is the smarter spend than pouring money into a tired one.

Oil Leaks & Turbo Failures

An oil leak rarely stays small. A weeping rocker cover drips onto a hot exhaust or down into the alternator, and a starved or coked oil line is how a good turbo dies young. We trace the source and repair:

  • Rocker cover gaskets
  • Oil filter housing leaks
  • Crank seals and sump gaskets
  • Turbo oil feed & return lines
  • Complete turbocharger replacements

Every mechanical job here is backed by diagnostics, because throwing parts at a car without testing first is just expensive guessing. At OBDTech we find the root cause and fix that, not the symptom.

Mechanical Insurance

We work with all the major mechanical insurance providers, including:

Every provider runs its own claims process, and the one rule that holds across all of them: the work has to be advised and approved before we start. Get the approval after the fact and the claim can be declined, leaving you with the bill.

We will walk you through the claim so your cover actually gets used the way it should.
